MEXICO TRIP

I returned Tuesday morning in the wee hours from an incredible Icthus experience near Guadalajara, Mexico.  I’m really excited about what is happening there.  I wish you could have gone with me also to experience the wonderful things happening.  I met with the national Icthus team that is making good progress in organizing the different regions of this large country to start more Icthus groups.  I celebrated with a church the progress of children in three groups: Little Fish (4 to 6), Benjamin (7 to 9), and Legion (10 to 14).  Everyone in the church including the pastor was so excited about what the children had learned and achieved.  I also had time with an Icthus Parents group and heard testimonies from 16 of them about what they are learning.    Another highlight was going to a children’s home for abused children and participating in their Icthus meeting – it was such a profound blessing seeing these children who had suffered so much thoroughly enjoying and learning in the activities.  Click here to see more pictures.

A VERY SPECIAL BLESSING

This month we have been blessed by the desire of two generous families to make a matching grant.  Together they are willing to give up to $3,000.  They will match dollar for dollar for each person who becomes a Padrino.  They will also honor existing Padrinos who add another group to their monthly giving.  What this means is that if you help one group on a monthly basis, two will be helped.  Two groups for one! 

Padrinos (Spanish for God Parents or Sponsors) are people who help provide Icthus to one or more groups each month.  It costs $25 a month for Icthus to provide this ministry to a group of children (average 20).  If you become a Padrino by committing to help one or more groups each month the number will be doubled.   If you are already a Padrino, each new group that you add to those you are already helping will be doubled by the matching grant. 

This matching grant will double new groups helped until the end of the year.  If you prefer to help on a one time basis for the remaining 6 months of the year, then each group helped is $150.

Please pray for Marcia and Stephen Winchell.  Marcia has an advanced case of cancer and is undergoing very painful treatment.   Marcia has been a long term encourager and Padrino of Icthus and even served in Guatemala for a summer.  Marcia is a teacher with a real love for children.  Marcia and Stephen have two children ages 2 and 3.  Please would you keep this family in prayer as they struggle with this severe health issue.  May the Lord bring back complete health to Marcia and sustain this dear family.
